Hakone-town lies in the middle of Fuji Hakone Izu National Park, and is known throughout the nation as an accessible tourist attraction cum hot spring town, and attracts 200 thousand visitors yearly. The Miyanoshita area. The retro yet modern landscape makes this area popular. The international resort area has been heavily visited by foreigners since the Meiji period, and has good water quality that has been used by feudal lords since the Edo period.
The Kowakidani area. It boats a 600m high natural landscape of beauty. It is rich in water volume, and is many of the inns and forms of accommodation here draw their water straight from the spring sources.
The Gora area. It has springs with white water, and is rich in minerals. Accommodation within Gora sells signature goods of famous hot springs, and you can go around the various springs and enjoy yourself.
The Sengokuhara area. Located 700m above sea level, it has a cloudy bath whiter than that of Owakudani, and transparent baths even more transparent than that of Ubako, and the accommodation in this area also draws their water straight from the sources. The area places importance on protecting the harmony with nature, and has facilities like the Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands, which was built with the protection of wetlands in mind.
The Ashi-no-yu area. Known for its springs that change into 7 different colors, you can enjoy water of different qualities here. It is also home to the only sulfur spring in Hakone, which is said that have skin beautifying properties.
The Lake Ashi area. The springs at Lake Ashi were drawn from Yu-no-hana springs. You can catch the stunning view of Mt. Fuji here.
